Special guest performance at Mr. Tommy Ooi's birthday bash : Hong Kong, 4 Aug 2012

Among the wonderful highlights in August 2012 was the birthday bash of Mr. Tommy Ooi, held at a prominent Chinese restaurant in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Tommy was our warm host for our 4-night stay in Hong Kong.

It was a night to remember, a star-studded party with international celebrities galore. I had the rare opportunity get upclose & personal with Anders Nelson, Angeline Lo Yuen Yan (TVB), Uncle Ray and many more.

Guests of honour include Ms. Ann Teoh, daughter of the beloved legend Rocky Teoh. She is a friendly person and down-to-earth. Thanks to her, my wife was kept with good company throughout the night. Also present was her beautiful niece, Veronica Teoh.

All in all, it was simply an amazing event for me. Thank you, Mr. Tommy "Evergreen" Ooi.
It was his 64th birthday and he doesn't even look close to 50....

The Elvis Tribute Show in Resorts World Genting : 16 Aug 2012

Back by popular demand, The Elvis Tribute Show by Alex Wong was held for the 2nd consecutive year at The Patio in the First World Plaza in Resorts World Genting on 16 Aug 2012. This event marked my 5th annual show, which started as a Christmas Eve Gala Dinner show in The Federal Hotel back in 2008.

With the crowd growing in anticipation up to 11pm, I was escorted by police officers to the venue. Felt like a superstar again...

The show started with a bang, literally, as I was introduced on stage. My performance began with the ultimate Elvis dance hit, 'Hound Dog', to the delight of the cheering crowd.

Among the songs that followed were 'Stuck on you', 'Wooden Heart' and 'Baby I Don't Care'.

Despite it being a weekday, the place was packed to the brim, with curious onlookers gazing through the entrance and upper floors. It was indeed a wonderful audience for me.

To add an element of surprise, I personally customized a Merdeka medley in conjunction with the upcoming National Day, sung in the style of Elvis. I kept it as my last song for my first set, and the response was way beyond my expectation. Malaysia Boleh!

The next set was at 1 am, and the crowd was still going strong. Emerging in the glittering black jumpsuit, I sang the 70's hit 'Suspicious Minds', keeping the frenzy cheers alive.

Putting all the other all-time-Elvis-favourites, it certainly made the party goin' and rockin'. Ardent fans were dancing along too...

In the audience were a group of dancers who were chilling out at my show. They danced to my encore song 'Jailhouse Rock' and it was such a pleasure to have them around.

Thank God for yet another successful event. Looking forward to another exciting show next year ... just need to brainstorm for more awesome ideas after the Merdeka medley :)
